Kat Dennings Knows Tagalog

Well, if there is something that shocked me this morning, it is knowing that an actress in the US whom I admire – knows how to speak my language. I have reviewed Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist not long ago, and the actress who played Norah is Kat Dennings, whose best friend is a Filipina like me.

It just gives a smile on my face and makes me proud I am a Filipino when I see this kind of message.

Imagine, that some Filipino when they go to the states and come back here, they would act as if they don’t know or have forgotten how to speak the language. Good for Rodene to have taught someone else. Filipino or Tagalog is a beautiful language.

Okay, for those who doesn’t know Tagalog, here’s a few:

Mahal = Love
Ate = Older sister
Kuya = Older brother
Maganda = Beautiful
Masaya = Happy
Ako / Ko = Me
Ikaw = You
Kita (in the message of Kat to Rodene) = You

And wow … I just realized Kat Dennings message was in correct grammar – some would say it “Mahal ko ikaw,” which is awkward … well … WOW again It’s just great really …
